If a claim submitted using DDE shows a successful submission, you still need to check the File Status feature for the DDE Acknowledgment and Claim Acknowledgement. Claims failing on either of these reports will not be sent to the processing system.
After the claim is submitted, you will receive a message indicating the claim was submitted successfully. To check Claim Status, follow the below steps:
1. Click “Dashboard” to return to the DDE Dashboard (first DDE screen). The Dashboard contains the most recent claim information.
2. Choose “View All Submitted Claims” to view a list of all claims submitted and the status:
• FAILED – includes claims that had errors and need to be corrected and resubmitted.
• SUCCESS – includes claims that were clean and processed.
• SENT – includes claims that have been sent but not yet received or reviewed to determine failed or success status.
3. Choose “View All Failed Claims” to see which claims need to be corrected and resubmitted. If claims show as “SUCCESS”, you will then need to verify file status using the File Status feature.
4. To access the File Status feature, click on “File” and then “File Status”. Status is provided in the form of Electronic Reports. DDE claims will receive a DDE Acknowledgment, Claim Acknowledgement (user friendly 277CA) and ERA (if enrolled for ERA under the portal submitter ID.)
5. Enter the desired date range and click “search new files” or “search old files”.
• “Search New Files” retrieves files that have not been viewed or downloaded.
• “Search Old Files” retrieves files that have already been viewed or downloaded.
The DDE Acknowledgment and the Claim Acknowledgment are text reports that you can open and read. The ERA file must be opened with a translation software, such as Medicare Remit Easy Print.
